| STYLED SHOOT | Wild and Windy Elopement
Blown away by our love…
There is something special about taking your wedding day into wild; truly intimate, back to nature, no frill - just declaring your love for one another. Elopements grew in popularity during the Covid-19 pandemic when celebration numbers were limited but having opened the door to a different way of thinking, we are seeing this as a trend that is here to save long beyond restrictions lifts; and we can certainly see why. Photographer from this wilderness shoot, Helen, tells us a little bit more about the (rather windy) day…
THE INSPO
Wanting to showcase just how amazingly wild yet accessible the Peak District is for wedding elopements, that there is a wedding for absolutely everyone, even those who like things a little more intimate and to be free in the hills!
THE DETAILS
This shoot featured a recently married couple who were happy to get their outfits back on to go on a windy adventure and have some fun. I asked Pip who is a Celebrant for elopements through to garden weddings, to do a mock ceremony with us on top of Mam Tor to demonstrate what would be involved in a real elopement with her. We were then able to have a little explore and take some more photographs feeling very alive on a midweek day in January on the top of a mountain together, hence why Pip also cracked out the whisky in order for the couple to have a little celebratory toast together before we came down! I like to think that the bouquet and buttonhole were beautifully classic with a modern wild twist, which meant it was elegant yet in keeping with its surroundings. Our Make up Artist, Charlotte Mallinder, wanted to show the bride Nicolas natural beauty, so her skin was kept soft and natural with a natural rose coloured flushed cheek, almost like the wind had created it. Her eye makeup was subtle using browns to reflect the nature of the surrounding landscape, choosing a natural pink on her lips too to be in keeping with her natural glow.
Nicola's hair was styled by Olivia James with volumised naturally flowing tousled curls complimented with a simply elegant glass beaded hair vine with flowing satin ribbons by Victoria Louise Accessories, complimented with a gorgeous pair of hooped mother of pearl iridescent earrings.

The variations of deep purple give real depth of colour and are a welcome change from the usual burnt orange and brown we see this time of year. Teamed with the hunter green, these colours are perfect for both indoor and outdoor as highlighted in the final images.
