| WHAT’S NEW | at The Walled Garden

Exciting news

Charming, quintessential and perfectly pretty, The Walled Garden is nestled in Nottingham suburbs and is a real wedding gem. With serious secret garden vibes, the Victorian walled garden is a pretty magical place to tie the knot! Having recently added a new addition to their on-site offering, we asked the guys there to gives us the lowdown…

“Beyond an old green gate in The Walled Garden lives a secret kitchen and cutting garden, Apple Cottage; a beautiful and peaceful space that has been rediscovered and cared for over the past years by a team of passionate gardeners. Here a variety of fruit and vegetables were once grown for the main house in the 1900s but gradually became used less frequently until a couple of summers ago when the restoration of Apple Cottage began.

Edible flowers are grown from seed to be used as a garnish for reception drinks, and herbs are picked freshly from the garden and added to wedding breakfast recipes by our in house chefs. Last year strawberries and raspberries were introduced to the garden to pop into your reception Pimms! This year we will be expanding our growing into seasonal vegetables, berries, a greater variety of herbs and, most excitingly, a beautiful cut flower garden! We couldn’t be happier to produce British seasonal flowers for our on-site florist, Ella from Old Bricks & Blossom.

After nearly 7 years in the wedding industry, Ella has now returned to The Walled Garden this Winter to follow her ambitions of running a Florist and the garden has fast become her second home. Wedding floristry appointments have started taking place with many brides and grooms booking Ella for their 2022 weddings and beyond. Couples are introduced to the space in which their flowers will be grown, conditioned and arranged for their wedding day, followed by an appointment in Gardener's Cottage going through all the finer floral details.

The Walled Garden team includes head gardener Emilie, Ella, Jack & Dan who will all be working hard preparing for the garden to bloom once again in Spring. Many tasks need to be carried out during winter, which range from rose pruning to seed sowing. We are so excited to share this space with our visitors this year and for everyone to watch it grow! It is so lovely that wedding guests are able to enjoy food, drink and floral arrangements which include a little bit of the garden that they are spending their day in. We can’t wait for wedding season.”
