Twinkling Lights & Romantic Vibes

After falling head over heels in love with Cripps & Co venue, Thorpe Garden, Gussi & David set about planning a post-pandemic wedding to die for and, we have to say, they smashed it. Scrolling through the image gallery, beautifully captured as always by A Big Neon Photography, we couldn’t help but swoon and smile in equal measures; a day as full of style as it is personal and sentimental touches. Here Gussi gives us all the deets…

The Florals

Hattie who runs Poppy Scout was our florist, and for our day we chose a bright colour palette of pinks ranging from pastel to rich dark tones. She was able to create beautifully organic flower meadows that ran down the aisle, and on the tables at the front of our ceremony. In addition, we chose simple bottled table decorations, using about 100 vases in total, which covered the long benches for our wedding breakfast

The Photography

When we were in the very early stages of our wedding planning, we were lucky enough to go to wedding fairs (pre-covid), so could meet suppliers face-to-face. We met Andrew from A Big Neon Glitter, and immediately we wanted to use him as our photographer. Throughout the day he was able to find some amazing doors and old farm buildings for backdrops – Andrew blended in so naturally with our guests to get some great relaxed, natural looking shots throughout the day.

The Details

Inspired by the locally sourced elements within the Thorpe Garden venue, like the tables made from wood sourced from within the Thorpe Constantine grounds, we wanted to keep suppliers local. Cicily Bridal shop is on the grounds of the Thorpe Constantine Estate. Lisa and Victoria made the process of choosing a dress so enjoyable, and were so helpful in finding a minimal, elegant dress and sleeves that could be removed for the dancing part of the day.

The signage and wedding stationary included drawings inspired by flowers that had been dried by my grandma and napkins that she had made, continuing the sentimental botanical theme. As a final personal touch, the groom wore cufflinks of our cat Ned, to make sure that he was part of the day.
